Jirra Lulla Harvey is the founder of Kalinya Communications, a boutique marketing and events firm established to promote positive images of Aboriginality. In the language of her Grandmother, a proud Yorta Yorta matriarch from Northern Victoria, Kalinya translates to Good, Beautiful and Honest. A National Scholar from the University of Melbourne where she now guest lectures on representations of race and sexuality in Australia pop culture, Jirra was awarded a Centenary Medal for creative contributions to Australian society.
She is passionate about Indigenous self-representation, ethical business and palm trees. Inspired by her time with the Kalinago people of Dominica, the only Caribbean island to hand back lands to its Indigenous population, Jirra now splits her time between Melbourne and adventuring the globe gaining inspiration from community led initiatives that challenge adversity through self-determination and creative solutions.
