Executive Director, For Film’s Sake
Sophie is a writer/director and leading advocate for women in screen. She is the founder of female-centred production company Little Sure Shots and produced the first Australian feature with a self-selected target of fifty percent female crew across all departments. She reinvigorated WIFT (Women in Film and Television) through the creation of the now infamous AACTA Sausage Party protest and has spoken at the British Film Institute and Cannes on the importance of direct action in effective gender advocacy. Sophie is the director of For Film’s Sake Festival, Australia’s flagship female film festival and one of only six AACTA accredited domestic festivals. She is a current Churchill Fellow and was named as one of Westpac’s ‘200 Women who will change the world’.
